Our Dream

It all starts with a dream, and its founder, Grácia Sofia, in her atelier in northern Portugal, she dreamed it and made it a reality. 

Grácia leads a team of women artisans who create and craft textile pieces manually for fashion brands worldwide. 

In this geographical area, there is a lot of textile industry, where, for each item made, there are threads, fabrics, buttons left over…For those with a creative vision, all these unused raw materials are valuable, something waiting to be built! The richness of textures, colors, touch... 

As Grácia looked at all these resources stored in her warehouse, in her mind, she imagined them transformed into true works of art, unique like those treasures, made by women for women! It would be the epitome of empowerment in the form of sustainable fashion accessories

Mhodzi is a term that originates from the Shona dialect of the Bantu tribe, mainly in Zimbabwe, South Africa. Mhodzi means seed and represents growth and renewal. Seeds of the soul complement our purpose. 

We believe that Mhodzi serves a higher purpose. It took several years for Grácia’s dream to take shape. And it’s not just a dream anymore.
